Britannia 5: Bristol. / Britain 5: Bristol.
Niin se viimeinen lomapäivä Britanniassa valkeni, ja matkamme suuntasi kohti Bristolia. Englannissa on kärvistelty tänä kesänä melkoisissa helteissä, mutta oma reissuni osui juuri sopivien, kesäisten kelien kohdalle. Nautimme niistä kiertelemällä Ashton Court Estaten tiluksilla. Kävelimme loivaa rinnettä ylös metsikön sekä ruoho- ja heinäpeltojen läpi. Korkeimmalta kukkulalta aukesi hieno näköala, jossa maalaismaisema sekoittui Bristolin kaupungin korkeisiin rakennuksiin.
Mukavan tiluksilla käppäilyn jälkeen siirryimme Bristolin keskustaan, jossa lähes pyhiinvaelluskohteeksi muodostunut LEGO Store odotti. Tällä kertaa lompakkooni jäi sen verran pätäkkää, ettei Matin tarvinnut ihan heti muuttaa sinne, mutta tietenkään en tyhjin käsin kaupasta lähtenyt. Näistä lompakon keventäjistä teen oman lokimerkintänsä myöhemmin.
Pienen vaeltelun jälkeen löysimme tiemme toiseen nörttiliikkeeseen, eli Forbidden Planet -kauppaan. Sieltäkin saattoi tarttua mukaan jotain pientä. Ostoksia rajoittaa onneksi se, että matkustan vain käsimatkatavaroiden kanssa, joten jokaista käteen tarttuvaa tilpehööriä en voi mukaani ottaa.
Koko päivän vaeltelun jälkeen käänsimme vatsamme kohti murkinapaikkaa, ja minut vietiin vatsoineni Pieminister-nimiseen ravintolaan, josta nimensä mukaisesti saa peribrittiläisiä piiraita. Vatsat täynnä lyllersimme takaisin autolle ja suuntasimme kotiin, jossa minua odotti vielä laukun pakkaaminen Suomeen paluuta varten.
Tämä jääköön siis viimeiseksi lokimerkinnäksi tämän reissun tiimoilta. Seuraava päivä kun oli pelkkää matkustamista ilman sen kummempia kohtaamisia tai tapahtumia.

And so, my final day in Britain dawned, and we headed towards Bristol. England has been experiencing some serious summer heat this year, but luckily my trip landed right in the middle of some pleasantly summery weather. We enjoyed it by exploring the grounds of Ashton Court Estate. We walked gently uphill through woodland and across grassy fields, with a lovely view from the highest point where the countryside blended into the tall buildings of Bristol.
After our pleasant wander around the estate, we headed into central Bristol, where the almost pilgrimage-worthy LEGO Store was waiting for me. This time, I managed to leave enough money in my wallet that Matt didn’t have to move in there just yet, but naturally I didn’t leave empty-handed either. I’ll give the things that lightened my wallet their own log entry later.
After a little more wandering, we found our way to another nerdy shop, Forbidden Planet. Something small may have followed me out of there too. Luckily, my shopping is somewhat restricted by the fact that I travel with hand luggage only, so I simply can’t take every little trinket that catches my eye home with me.

After a full day of wandering, our stomachs were ready for some proper food, so my friends took me and my hungry belly to Pieminister, a restaurant specialising in good old British pies. With our stomachs full, we waddled back to the car and headed home, where I still had one final task waiting for me: packing my bag for the journey back to Finland.
And with that, this will be my final log entry from this trip. The following day was simply a day of travelling, without any particularly exciting encounters or adventures.
